On the first floor of the bell tower, a memorial museum of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr was opened on the Feast of Intercession of 2015. The church in the museum is dedicated to St. Volodymyr, Equal to the Apostles.
Open daily 10:30-16:30 (excerpt Monday). For a guided tour please contact us.
The museum includes an iconostasis from St. Nicholas church at the Metropolitan Residence in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. The museum was established at the expense of Mr. Igor Lysov, Chairman of the Memorial Fund for His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr. Most of the exhibits were collected through the efforts of the Foundation’s spiritual director, Metropolitan Alexander of Pereyaslav and Vyshneve.
Documents and personal belongings of Metropolitan Volodymyr (1935-2014) are among the exhibits of the museum. The decoration of his office was recreated in a special hall. The exposition of the main hall of the museum includes the personal belongings of His Beatitude that he used in his daily life.
There are showpieces that characterize the Metropolitan as a creative person. The exposition presents Taras Shevchenko’s “Testament”, a work that particularly inspired His Beatitude, as well as Kobzar’s portrait of the XX century. You can see a collection of poems authored by Metropolitan Volodymyr with an inscription (“self-published” in 1981).
The exhibition hall presents bishops’ vestments from the vestry of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr. Mannequins are dressed in liturgical vestments – sakkos, omophorion, and staff. Here you can see silver-gilt engolpions, crosses, and several awards. Metropolitan Volodymyr was honored with the highest state award – the honor “Hero of Ukraine”. There is also a number of old printed books collected by His Beatitude.
